Esof btw. Not the manual stick. Not sure if it matters.

when i was chasing this on my truck.. Ford was confused.. it ended up being mercon SP from factory.. but ford has since released a specific transfer case fluild, that can be used going forward. 2 qts...

•For use in transfer cases driving front axles on all-wheel-drive (AWD) and 4x4 vehicles

According to the manual, 2 quarts of Mercon ATF.
my bad... i looked back at my reciept and the notes on it.. dealer said mercon V can be used Mecon was original.. so i bought that. got home and bottle says not to put it in transfer cases (if i recall they didnt sell the older mercon any longer).. when i went back to dealer, and show them the bottle they were confused and didnt have a updated recommendation. I ended up purchasing the Mercon from autopart store.. then dug around the internet and found the Ford Transfer Case fluid was the recommended option now.
