had a viper until it decided that my remote wasnt good enough for it
truck started about every 10 min and every 5 min cut off with the doors locked
put new batts in the remote wouldnt let me open
open door with key alarms going crazy (oh and i had my train horns hooked up to the alarm to) (and its 3 am)
jerked system out and had to fig out all of the relays i had to bypass to even start my f'in truck again so no more remote starts for me but it would be nice up here

I have run the Pursuit series from Audiovox since 2000 in my truck. It has never failed me. No external relays or timers. It is simple and the truck starts even at -10 not plugged in.

Crimestopper CS-2016 DP II FM Remote Start/ Alarm/ Turbo Timer. Bought it on ebay for $129 and love it. It works flawlessly. Shock sensor sensitivity is just right.
mine should be comming today..
I tried an alert system but no worky...the doorstuff did just, the start relays didn't mine is now 80% pre wired for it.

did you use diodes on the door.?

Yes, diodes were necessary. You can follow the link in my sig and find a write-up I did that shows exactly how I wired it. There are two write-ups, one for remote start and one for remote start/alarm.If you need diodes I can send you some (free) or you can probably get them at radio shack.Note that I make no claims on being an expert on alarms :)

I prefer the traditional manual method.. The less electronics I have on the truck to fail, the better. I hate alarms. And plus if it went off one night, I would shoot the guy. Being in Comifornia, I would end up with life in prison.
