Just make sure you ground it correctly.

It couldn't hurt to disconnect the PCM though..

I've never unhooked anything, and never had a problem. Maybe we should send this into Mythbusters so they can solve this dilemma once and for all...:D

Just to be on the safe side, I would disconnect the battery. It only takes a few minnutes to do it and if it was me I'd feel a-lot safer.

I didn't do anything but grab a fire extinguisher as far as safety when I welded the entire frame back together after sectioning ~15 inches for the shortbed

Still runs good :D

Couldn't hurt to unhook the batts though.

As stated unhook the bat. I have welded on many of a rig and always un hooked the bat. if it has a comp. in it. Why take the chance? For the time it takes well worth it.

You should unhook the batteries. The ecm doens't like power spikes. You also should weld on the frame as it's heat treated if you can avoid it.

Now that I think about it, that truck has a battery disconnect switch in the front grille that was in the "OFF" position.

So then yes, my batts were actually disconnected.

I am going to start building my pipe bumper so I wont be welding on the frame. I had the bumper off today doing some mock up. I will get some pictures up when I get something accomplished.

I have welded on my rockcrawler probably hundreds of times without ever undoing batts or worrying about the computer. Still runs great... rolls over alot...hmmm maybe that's the problem :brightidea: :flipa:
