I have recently purchased an 05 F350 King Ranch with 50k miles (first diesel). I have done the egr delete and blue spring upgrade so far. I have an SCT Livewire tuner. I have just been running the canned tunes but whenever I use the street tune, the truck acts like it's missing or guessing which gear to shift to at either WOT or rolling into WOT. The truck runs fine on the tow tunes though. Any advice would be appreciated.:bowfast:

Have you put many miles on it after changing tunes?

I ask b/c on most tuners the tranny will have to "relearn" and shifting will be a little off for the first 20 or so complete gear cycles.

I had about 10 miles with that tune. I changed it back to the tow tune in fear if breaking or damaging something. I also adjusted the rev limiter but had no luck there.

I would put the street tune back on the truck and drive it in at an easy pace in a rural area if you can. come to complete stops then get it up to about 55-60 if it will without too much drama, then slow back down to a stop. do this about 10 times and see if it gets any better. if it is bucking really bad or feels like it is gonna break something stop. if it is just kinda shifting hard or in unusual spots keep driving and see if it gets better.

Tunes will make an issues with your truck very obvious. The tow tune is very mild and wouldn't show as much of an issue like the street or race tune.

I tried the accelerate to 55-60 them stop. The truck will shift correctly now if I accelerate from a stop or while driving. I am still having a surge issue tho. I noticed the truck isn't following the commanded gears on the tuner correctly.

I did talk with Drew and he told me not to really trust the canned tunes. I removed the SCT livewire and put on an H&S mini maxx and the truck ran just fine thru all of the tune settings from mild to hot. Guess I will get the rest of my parts ordered and put on so I can get a custom tune wrote.

Just to follow up with the tuner issue I was having, I ended up going with a custom tune from IDP and that solved the issue I was having. Guess the truck didn't like the canned tunes.

Should've gotten drew to send you a tune while you had him on the phone, I personally think they are better than IDP

Further supports my continuous efforts to talk people out of canned tunes....obviously to no avail. Canned tunes and 6.0's just don't jive together! Some day people will learn....some day.
