so i was cruisin ebay the other day and came across these winches. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of them or how good they are. They cant be too bad with a two year no hassle warranty... most winch manufacturers shy away from warranties due to the nature of how theyre used...

Vortex 12,000 winch.

its kinda got a chicago electric look to it, so not sure if its just a offbrand of a major brand or what. anyways let me know.

I have no idea about those two in particular, but I did buy a winch off Ebay for my ATV that was an "off brand". 1/4 the price of a Warn winch, and I didn't have to upgrade it to use my snowplow either (would have been even more $$$ for Warn). Plus it was waterproof, the Warn wasn't. So far it has worked like a champ. I've used it for snowplowing, and even had it submerged completely underwater then used it 15 minutes later with no problems.

This is what I did, search Google for that brand of winch and you will find links to forums and/or reviews here and there of people who have used it already. That's what sold me on the winch I bought, pretty much everyone said it was excellent quality for much cheaper price.

well so far i think all ive really found was that it appears to be the same winch as the milemarker and probably is just under a different name. *shrugs* for the price its worth a try I havent seen any negative review of it as of yet. Like you said, my uncle owns a repo outfit and hes been using the same HF winch for damn near 8yrs and has never had a problem with it. In fact he outfitted all of his trucks with the same one. My truck is just a little heavier than the ones we typically repo *shrugs* oh well if i dont like it i can always sell it eh. that and i think that Atlas winch is also made in the US. cant go wrong there.
