Video - deleted truck now have fuel pressure surge??

8109 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Power12
Just installed afe intake, 5 inch straight pipe and mini max on a 2014 6.7 powerstroke. Truck has a fuel pressure surge at idle on all of the tunes. Seems only when truck isn't warmed up. Smartens up after the turbo veins or you rev it up a bit. Is this tuner related or something to do with the trucks fuel system? Truck has 7,000 miles on it. Rpms are steady and running smooth everything else seems normal.

Also, I assume unrelated but the truck has gotten louder since I bought it. Dealer told me it was a fuel knock and some of these engines have it depending on fuel etc... Recommended trying different fuel or conditioners. I have the loudest engine noise out of any 6.7 that I have heard. Sounds more like a 6.0 litre now. Almost have to turn it off at drive thrus. Also getting pretty brutal fuel mileage no matter what speed - deletes helped a little but not enough to brag about. Any help is greatly appreciated with any of these issues. Thanks!

What tunes are you running on your mini maxx? H&s box tunes or custom tunes?

Next question, did you do an egr delete? Or at least unplug egr plugs?

:whs:

I'm guessing the problem is that the two EGR related plugs are still connected, which is the cause of 99.99999% of the idle/surge issues brought up on this and other Powerstroke Forums.
Any help is greatly appreciated with any of these issues. Thanks!
It's always nice when a newby joins the forum, ask for help on their first post, then you never hear back from them.

A nice: Thanks, that worked or I found the problem may help other members with a similar situation.

BAD FORM Mr. Evbomber!
H&S Tech claims this is a turbo test at idle, shouldnt do it every time. This is what I was told when I called them. I dont know exactly what they are testing, but this is what tech told me. Same conditions, it stops once warm
I'm having the exact same issue. I have a spartan tuner and mine has done it since day one. On some of higher tunes my truck almost sounds as if loping. It definitely has that same miss sound or surge sound. My egr is totally intact though. I was told by Spartan it was ok to leave it because it was turned off anyway. Standing by engine you can also hear it change rhythms. It's like you putting it under load for a sec or something. Any suggestions?
Just reading on another post, should I unplug my egr and what does that involve. Was thinking about buying the blocker plates anyway so I can monitor egt. Could this be issue with surging and funny noises from engine compartment?

I've always found it amusing when Ford techs come on here asking for suggestions for drivability problems they are having with customer vehicles. Believe it or not it happens!!!
Did delete blocked and unplugged EGR and always had a lope idle,I actually liked the sound, then my turbos took a dump at 48000 miles and did a single IDI turbo no other change other then full delete programming remand the same and now it has no lope for whatever that's worth.
