I understand upgrading our CAC (intercooler) for a Spearco or Banks or ?? but what about the factory 6.0leakers unit? Any good? Better than my factory unit?
I see alot of take off units on fleabay, for a very reasonable price.
Are they worth the $200 vs. $1200 for a new Spearco?

6oh worked very well for me, but i had it on my 96. On that truck it went from no ic to 6oh ic, so there was a hell of a difference. I have the DI Intercooler now and so far works very well. If i were in the market for another IC i wouldnt hesitate to buy another DI unit.

The 6.0 is a waste of money IMHO on a SD pickup, unless you can get it for free or nearly free... saw less then a 50 drop empty and maybe 75 towing...

I think I might eventually make some intercooled and then non-intercooled dyno pulls just to illustrate that the egt gauge is not the only use of an intercooler.

Just for fun and all.

I guess what I am really asking is 'is the 6.0 CAC worth installing'?
For a stock 7.3 that I don't yet tow with.
Just a daily driver.

Just curious.

No, if it's just a dailey driver and you don't have an EGT issue now then installing a larger CAC won't help you one bit. If you start towing, or encounter some other situation where intake air temp is a problem then a CAC will help.

I didn't see much of difference with my 6.0 Spearco driving around unloaded because the intake air temp is already pretty low. Towing it made a huge difference.

With the 6.0L or any other intercooler, driving around unloaded won't change temps much. It's at the drag strip or with a load hooked up behind is where you see a difference.

I'm running the 6.0L intercooler on my truck and it works great. I saw a max 100 degree drop in EGT's at WOT vs the stock intercooler. If your mods leave you with stock injectors like I'm doing, then the 6.0L intercooler is all you need. If you are going to bigger injectors, you need a bigger intercooler.

There is about a $1000 price difference between picking up a 6.0L intercooler and buying a Spearco, DIIC, etc. For a stock injectored truck, that additional $1000 price tag probably won't be worth it. For a higher HP truck running bigger sticks, it's worth every penny.
