Found a set of upfitter switches (cheap) for my 99. I've been doing my research on adding them. What I've read in a few post is a relay being mentioned.

I've seen pics of the wiring harness that comes with a new switch, looks like there is a large retangular box that is inline with the harness. Guessing that's a relay???

I was told the harness is still in the truck but goes into a larger harness. Anybody with any experience? Is it maybe just wrapped together and can be undone and seperated?

My plan at this point is to hard wire continuous power. So far Im looking at a set of lights to replace the busted ones mounted in my rear bumper. I dont have any other accessories to run at this time.

Just wondering if these switches will be useless if I dont have a complete harness.

I don't believe your 99 will be wired for them, because they didnt come in those trucks at all. I believe 2005 was the first year for them. The harness you buy with the switches (which you can buy separate) plus into the fuse box. Then it has a bank of relays that mounts above the glovebox in the dash.

Here is some info on the setup:

That's an great picture. Shows me exactly what I'll need to make this work. The larger harness is simply the rest of the harness to the box and to the input and output wires.

I was already aware it would not have a place to plug in on the 99. I'm sure I can find a write up on getting around that.
