since my other thread has been hi-jacked :swordfight:

I want to just put a converter in my trans to try and get to the end of the year... then I should have the means available to build the bad mo-fo trans I need.

So what's that updated ford TC part number? How much should I be paying for it? Can anyone hook me up with one?

Please don't make me play russian roulette with ebay tc's :gun:

thanks!

I'd like more info also...i don't want to put some big bad PI convertor on my stock tranny, but would like to try something better...what does it take to bolt up a 6.4 TC to my 7.3?

what other parts need to be changed and at what cost?

besides better cooling, how can i make my stock internals transmission last?

Ford still uses the plastic caps in those converters. About $600 gets you a full redesign with all rollers, no plastic caps, tweaked beefer stator, triple disc w/billet cover. Less than that $ you will have the plastic that brings it down in heat. This thread is over a month old anyway.

don't be hatin' :flipa:

That wasn't it. Ford has 3 converters for 4R100's. Up to $650 now and they want the # stamped on the old one. No specs available in the dealer parts data base. Alot of parts have gone up in price in the last 3 months. Every one I've seen has plastic in it that heat will bring down, and steel cover. John Wood does have converters.

well aparently this TC was a waste of time... didn't even make it a month. IN one day my truck went from working fine to not even thinking of moving untill about 2200rpm's, then it shudders, slips and bangs to get moving. I'm fairly certain it is the tc... it slips and hardly accelerates untill tc lockup (watching live data on a MODIS). Trying to take off in any other gear really made no difference. [insert banging head smilie here]

I must bow in awe of the knowledge held by jon/richter/bigblockhorse however you know him. I called him, we talked a few mins... he told me to take some pressure readings at the pressure port. Told him those and said pressures looked fine... then he tells me about the possibility of a loose feed bolt to the forward circuit. So I drop the pan & valve bodies etc and WA-FA-KIN-LA!!! there is a loose feed bolt! John nailed this and I can't thank him enough! I was prepared to get a loan to pay for a completely new tran$
