08 6.4...
Been one problem after the next, trying to be patient. 73,500 miles.
Just recovered from $1000 fuel pump, filter, EGT sensor replacement, now, truck is still running but threw the following code today, while turbos didn't STOP performing, but were sluggish.
P0128 threw. "Coolant Thermostat" right after a regen.
Coolant temp was at 73 degrees when code was generated, according to reader.
I would definitely believe that I've got a bad tstat... Engine has barely been getting to operating temp, but then again, its been damned cold in Michigan.
1. Is the bad tstat code reliable and to the point?
2. Is this a job for "semi-competent" mechanic?
3. Underlying problems with EGR, etc that would set this code off?
Thanks, as usual.
