Hi all -
I have a new to me 04 F350 6.0 that I bought from a dealer as a theft recovery vehicle. The thief thank goodness didn't have the truck long (1 day). He only managed to steal the bedside plastic caps, bumper caps, and tailgate. On the interior he left my KR quad bucket seats alone, but stole all the goodies the previous owner had on the dash. This included a "Nevco" system, trailer brake, CB, and most importantly.. The vital monitor screen that looked over all the vitals of the truck. Now I don't know if the vitals monitor had also tuning capabilities, but what I do know is that this truck is definitely tuned. The trans shifts hard from 1-2, 2-3 for towing purposes, and the engine feels a lot more peppy than a stock 6.0.

Question I can't seem to answer for myself is what tune does this truck have? SCT, EDGE, Bull Dog, Etc. The amount of aftermarket tuning companies is vast. Going forward I would like to bring the truck back down to stock tune, since I dont need the hard shifts for when I am not towing. I would also like to get the SCT or Edge tuner with vitals monitor, but am afraid installing that with a tune already on the truck, may damage it?

Interested in hearing your thoughts.

You will never know, unless you talk to the previous owner.
Go to the dealer, and have it flashed to the latest software.

Agreed. Then buy a cheap handheld SCT tuner used and flash a custom tune from gear head and you will be golden. For a monitor, use an edge cts2

Honestly I would just invest in a SCT x4. Great for monitoring, and you can use it to reset the truck to "stock tuning" for peace of mind. Plus if you want to tune it in the future you will already have the platform for it.
