You can tow just fine with a Detroit Locker I have and it works fine.
You will break an axle eventualy if you tow or haul very much weight.

There is no give what so ever when you are turning while accelerating.

I can turn while accelerating with or without a load you just can't go crazy with the pedal and it will never lock up. I don't tow much weight only 8-12k and have yet to have a problem towing with a Detroit Locker. Like I have said before you just have to know how to drive with a locker.

i occasionally tow a horse trailer up and down mountains. I also like to take my corners on the side of fast (without horse trailer).
what would the advantages of the locker over the truetrac be?

I also take corners going fast. The only time you have to watch out is when you are making a u-turn or something like that other than that you can drive it about anyway you want.

the detroit is a full lock, the truetrac isnt going to lock completely. if i didnt get the auburn i would have gone with the truetrac since i tow most of the time and heavy. the full lock is nice in the slippery stuff but harder on tires, the tt is easier on tires and a bit more forgiving.

i had broken both oem axles with a detroit first time was in a parking lot turnin tight on asphalt crawlin in first gear, but my horse trailer does wiegh 15k loaded up. second one was pullin up a rocky hill with 12k of cattle got a little spin, hop, pop. but i was pourin some fuel to it when it happened, i probably should have been in 4wd it may not have happened if i was but oh well. i had about 100k with the locker in there at that time and i did break them 2 with in about 2 months. ive got about 150k on the auburn now and really like it alot, its easier on tires and i dont get that binding feel turning real tight.

but thats just me!!

If I didn't get the Detriot Looker I would have go the Auburn LSD I think it is one of the nicer LSDs out on the market. Also I have to say I drive a few miles of dirt road to get to my house so the locker is nice to have when it is wet and muddy, but If I lived in town I would have went with the Auburn LSD.
