So how hard is the install... Is this a drop in deal or do I have to set the backlash again... I am very tired of the one wheel peal...

I had mine installed by a guru and the backlash didn't need to be adjusted. If you are looking for a LSD, it seems to be a great unit.

i personally like the ARB lockers. but i guess it all depends on what you use the truck for. but it was nice to be able to flip a switch and have a full locker when needed

Will this unit give you a two wheel peel? I used to do two wheel peels but now down to one....L/S gone?

its a locker. just not full time. as soon as your on the throttle its fully locked. as for install, it was pretty basic. pressing the bearings and removing them were the only pita. no backlash issue or shims needed on mine.

I had one in the front of a full size bronco. It worked great. When you let off the throttle it would allow you to turn without the tires binding up. But once you got on it again away you would go. I don’t know about that one in daily driver in the rear though. I would think an arb would be better in that case. Driving with lockers on pavement are a pain in the butt and hard on tires. Not that burn outs are though lol

I will have to disagree with that. I have had a Detroit Locker in my truck for over a year and it is not a pain in the butt on the streets and the tires look better than they did before because now I don't end up with one bald tire on the back my tires arn't chunking and they don't chirp going around corners or when doing U turns.

I guess I was wrong about the longer whell base. I just knew on my bronco the detroit locker in the rear it made a lot of noise on the street. I was running the true trac in the front. I guess it makes a big diffrence when you can turn around in a corn field or a small street.

Well I don;t know casue I have the Ford LS and mine actually works. Of course the clutches are comming apart. As for lockers I'm going with the Eton E locker once there out for the rear. Flip a switch and it's locked hard. The rest of the time it's supposed to work like a LS. Best of both worlds I guess. Defanitly getting that for the front. No 3wd 4 me. ;)

I think I read that Eaton is not going to come out with one anymore.

badford I also have one in a 69 GMC shortbed truck wheelbas is pretty short and I dont have any noises or anything in that truck either and I can turn that thing around on a dime.

well im glade it works for you. but if you dont admit their is a diffrence between a open diff and a locker on the street you must not pay attention that well. THats the last I have on that subject.

I have a truetrack in the rear of my Mazda... works great in mud and on the street if you go around a corner slow it's like an open rear.... mash the throttle and it locks up and whips your azz around.

My biggest problem with the TruTrac - if you lift a wheel it's done. I'm debating TruTrac or air locker after my tranny and the price might just determine that for me!

Oh there is a difference but it is not much at all. I guess I just know how to drive with a locker.
This is a good point and I've had 2 trucks with a detroit locker in the rear and no problems at all it does have a lot to do with the way you drive it like da dieselman said. I have a tru-trac in the front of my F-250 and when it's in 4x4 I just coast around corners or take it easy and no problem but if I get in the gas it will push. Same with the rear of this truck I even haul the tractor 7k with trailer 2k and in 2wd I coast around corners and it behaves nicely but maybe I'm just lucky.
