What type of transmission is this? I assume you have the E4OD...correct? Is this a new problem or has it shifted this way for a long time? My transmission shifts quick and firm. But I have replaced the stock valve body so that is why it does that.

Griz

not to good with computers sorry if i sent a lot of messages to the wrong place the od light flashes but no engine light
The OD light flashing means the computer has detected a fault and set a trouble code. You'll need to have the truck scanned for the code(s). The hard shift is a fail safe mode to allow you to drive it temporarily.

Now I dont know anything about transmissions at all hardly. When I take off from a stop light and start to get to higher RPM's it sounds like the transmission is humming then when the RPM's drop it stops until reaching higher RPM's.

Anybody want to help on what that is?
thanks

A few driveline guesses: Hydraulic whine from the pump or fluid level, a roller bearing going bad. They sing when loaded. Same for the 2 piece drive shaft w/bearing. Bearing noise is close to the same hum big tires make.

well i checked the fluid level and its fine.
what exactly is the roller bearing? How much would do you think that would cost to have that replaced if you can have just that replaced

I feel stupid for posting these questions but oh well.

In a transmission, roller bearings are replaceable surfaces between moving parts. They reduce friction and act as thrust surfaces. Example: Instead of having the nose of a $100 gear set wear, an $8 bearing is used as a replaceable surface. Parts wise you wouldn't spend much to replace all of them, but labor will be R&R plus. Tranny might need complete disassembly. They are used from Converter to output shaft.
