Hi, my 2000 is giving me some fits. the 2-3 shift is allover the place, some times it shifts hard some times its delayed and hard od light will flash, then it will go back to normal, od light will stop flashing???

It will also down shift to soon on its own some times.

pulled codes got
p0733 gear 3 incorrect ratio
p0782 2-3 shift error

tried new speed sensors in trans, but same problem

trans was rebuilt about 1 year ago
about 6 months ago I had to put a new converter in it
3-4 weeks ago it started shifting hard in all gears, so I put a new shift pack in.

What does the fluid look and smell like? Is there any delay or problems with the reverse engagement? I suspect the direct clutch is hurt.

fluid is pink not burnt. reverse fine, not slow. I keep going to electrical seeing how it will go back to normal operation for a day or 2. when it is acting up once it shifts it don't slip.

Why did you replace the speed sensors? I would not have thought of doing that. There was no code to indicate a speed sensor issue, so why?

It could be a sticky 2-3 shift valve, or accumulator valve, or a partially cut seal in the direct clutch. It is also possible that the frictions elements of the direct are damaged, but that usually discolors the fluid.

a month or so ago when I replaced the shift pack the trans shop had said something about a speed sensor code but told me to replace the shift pack first. I couldn't remember which sensor the code was for so I replaced both ( since no code came back).

and im not a trans specialist but I would not think any of that could result in a early down shift could it? and when its acting up both happen delayed up shift and early down shift, guess I was thinking mabe the speed sensors were reading wrong?
