I drained/filled trans yesterday, but went I went to change my external filter the nut on the cap was stripped and I cannot get a socket to stay on it, so I need to replace at least the cap if not the whole housing. I hope I can get the cap off, replace it and save the rest of the housing. Has anyone else run into this? Does anyone know the part number for the housing and cap? What does the inside of the housing look like (I may have to crush or drill through the cap to get it off)?

Its a common thing, maybe wrong size socket, other issues is they crack over time because of removal. That housing is for your inline filter, just talk to Ford about it, if they are any good they should know.

The cap itself costs almost as much as the housing. If the nuts broken it's stuck on and not even worth trying to remove (you'll just bend the tranny lines) TousleyFordParts has it for about $30.00 Call 800-328-9552
