Hopefully one of you Transmission Experts can narrow this down.

I have been having this Tranny issue now going on two years. First, yes it probably needs a complete rebuild but I am hoping to narrow down a fix as the guy I would have rebuild the tranny, (John Wood) is no longer doing customer service at his shop. He has only a couple of authorized guys and the one located near me does not have the best feed back for work he has done. That Said;

The issue: Tranny will not engage in any forward gears, only reverse when its cold. The tranny oil and the engine coolant has to get to operating temperature. I then can put it into drive hit the accelerator once or twice real quick and the tranny engages and runs fine after that. As long as the engine is hot this "hack" works on getting the Tranny engaged. If I try and engage when everything is cold and rev. the engine I get a whining sound.

Things I have done. I flushed the tranny and changed the filter. Problem is still there. Here is the list of codes I pulled Last Night. In your best guess would this be just a bad Torque Convertor, possibly the lock up Solenoid, wiring issue etc... Like I noted above once the engine reaches operating temperature I can get the Tranny to engage. Regarding the P1876 error. I can hear the Drive Solenoid clicking when I turn the on the fly switch, just wondering why I am getting that error also.

i have a C4 in my 65 falcon doing the same thing for the past 11 years. as explained to me years ago, it has a bad seal in the front pump. once the fluid warms up, the seal expands and the trans works fine until the trans gets cold again..
