well the hardest part for someone who is going to build there own trans is knowing what parts are good and what parts are bad. you can get rebuild kits from places like tci or suncost. also look into some local shops, trans shops see what they have to offer warranty wise and if they deal with high hp aplications alot are they atra members . bts transmission are great transmissions but i do feel that there are other shops/builders who build just as good of transmissions as bts.

Depends on what you want to do with the truck

Getting rid of it: Get Aamco or whoever is cheaper. Nobody pays you more for a good trans.

Selling in the near future: Get a Ford reman

Driving it into the ground: Get a BTS. He warranties it even after 2 yrs is up but you pay the shipping.

Since I planned to keep my truck and I know I will break it, BTS was a no brainer for me. There is less money out today but I don't know of anyone cheaper than BTS in the long run.

If you get a rebuild kit, you best have the tools to rebuild it yourself. Reason being that (assuming I am the mechanic) when you bring me a box of parts, it cuts into my profit and I might not be willing to work with that. Also, if you bring your parts, who is responsible if things go south or you don't like something about the product? I will blame the parts and the parts will blame the builder (me). Been there, done that. So, if I want a trans, I either get say a BTS or if I am going to buy parts, I have to build it myself.
