If the truck has ever been to a dealership service bay, it probably HAS been flashed to, well, not really OBD-II, but the OBD-Sorta-II that our trucks "speak".

I'm thinking the last time it saw a dealership was probably around 95 or 96. Lol
The original owner was my bosses dad, and they had a shop in town work on it.
I've tried connecting an sct tuner, and a few code readers, nothing will actually connect.
Far as mine vs my brothers 96, cheap parts store code readers will read his. Which is another reason I think mine has not been updated.
I don't think it's the connection, as the Bluetooth adapter comes on.
Though it could still be the adapter. I'll find out if it works on the 96 tomorrow.

Anybody have a pid and formula for timing? I know it's a long shot, but I'm looking for the timing formula. I want to either be able to see it in torque or put it in TunerPro RT so I can do data tracing. The values have a really strange hex progression and they don't make sense without a formula.

Hey guys hate to bring up a old thread but need a answer my truck is telling the app that it can't read any of the pids. I only want the boost gauge to work So I can see how high my turbo is boosting. Do I need all of the custom pids on the first page for this as only the boost one doesn't work for my truck

The formula I've been using for Boost is ((((A*256)+B)*0.00109)-16.03)-Baro(). So Boost depends on the Baro function, and if you use this Boost formula, you must first set up the Baro formula.

BTW, comparing boost numbers in Torque using this formula with my boost gauge shows some difference. I'm not sure which one is wrong. They aren't wildly different, but enough to notice. I haven't had time to play around with it.

Also, if you enter your custom formulas in a spreadsheet and save as a CSV file, HERE is a thread which tells you how to put the CSV file on your Android tablet or phone so that they show up as a custom set of PIDS in the Torque menu. This makes it really easy to import the whole set.

I tried to upload my CSV file into photos, but it didn't work. But you can copy/paste the text below into Notepad, then save it as whatever.csv, and it should work.

I've been trying to post this info all nice, neat, and packaged up -- just haven't had time. I figure it's better to post what I have instead of sit on it any longer. It would be great if someone could package it up. I will say that getting the CSV file in the right folder on my Android was a trick.

I named my file OBSPowerStroke.csv. It goes into folder /sdcard/.torque/extendedpids. However, period in front of the .torque folder marks it as a hidden folder. I was able to copy OPSPowerStroke.csv onto a different folder using a USB cable from my PC. From there, I used the app "ES File Explorer" to copy it to the correct final folder. In order to show hidden folders, I had to select the Settings >Display Settings >Show hidden files checkbox. There are probably other apps that will do the same thing.

If you try this, please post how it worked for you. If you get stuck, let me know, and I'll try to help. Thanks!

Here's the CSV file again, with the degree symbol fixed (øF changed to ºF). If you copy/paste this into a text editor like notepad and save as OBSPowerStroke.csv, it will work; no need for a Google doc.

Update/status check - wondering about a couple of things, and searching the thread didn't turn up anything conclusive:

1) Can diagnostic trouble codes (P-codes) be obtained?

2) Has anyone been able to (or tried to) use this app with a conventional wired ELM-to-USB device/cable, on an Android device with a USB port?

There is USB support, but I didn't have any luck with it. It might have been my adapter but I'm not sure. A bluetooth adapter was dirt cheap ($25.00-$30.00) and has been both convenient and flawless.

Codes can be pulled, but not all and not reliably. Just use Car Gauge Pro for that. You'll also get access to all of the onboard diagnostic tests.

Yeah, I noticed on Torque-bhp's FAQ page that they now claim USB support. I'm tempted to pick up a beater tablet on CL just to test it out. I know how cheap bluetooth is; my question was about finding a wired solution.

Any idea if CarGauge Pro supports USB?

Has anyone had any luck with pulse width, and tps voltage? I have read this thread numerous times and don't see anything.

Thanks

My pulse width seems to be reading in the 1000's and should be 1.5 ish. Is this just a decimal point issue in the pid itself?
