What ever Jiffy Lube puts in her... Works just fine for me!
wow :lame: :aiwebs_001:
FWIW, I found DELO @ Autozone for 10.88/gal. Truck doesn't seem any quieter to me.
Update...a day later it does seem a bit quieter...
Delo 400 and Delo LE are excellent oils. First off they use a very good group II+ base oil. Delo also preforms like a synthetic because Chevron uses a group V ester oil as the additive carrier oil. Delo is FAR better than regular Rotella.

Rotella T Synthetic is a good oil though. It uses a group III base oil which is not really synthetic, but is legally considered as such. The reason that Rotella may cause idle issues and or loud noises is Shell tends to use less anti-foam (typically silicone compounds) additives than other oils. Regular rotella is also less shear stable than Delo.

If you have trouble finding Delo locally look up a Schaeffer oil dealer. Their oils are top-notch and they have been around for a LONG time. If you order over 300 dollars shipping is free.

I'm running Delo now and I have been since this truck was new. When my last barrel of Delo runs out I'll be ordering Schaeffer since shipping is free and I can cheat the governor out of the tax

Your choise... Company pays or I pay for the oil change... Humm at $100 a pop... Yup, Jiffy Lube gets the nod...

270k on the 95... Jiffy lube did 80% of the oil changes...
260k on the 97... Jiffy lube did 60% of the oil changes...
280k on the 99... Jiffy lube did 95% of the oil changes...
115k on the 01... Jiffy lube has done 90% of the oil changes...

That reminds me... I need a PO number to go get the oil changed tomarrow!:flipa::redspotdance:
Jiffy Lube most likely uses Penzoil LL, which is not a bad oil. Changing the oil on a reasonable interval is more important than the type of oil. Not running the oil too long is what will make a HEUI engine live long, as they are very hard on engien oils.

Really, to know for sure if the oil, filter and change intervale are working you need to have a UOA done anyway.
Most of the time I ask for Rotella or Delo... I was just giving old gregey a hard time...

You think maybe Jiffy Lube is putting something on my truck to make the SSOL turbo surge???
Well, unless Iffy Lube is filling the engine by pumping the oil into compressor housing and forcing it into the turbo cartridge I'm think that the oil won't make a turbo surge. With the qualified mechanics they employ at Iffy Lube you might try and blame the SSOL on them and see what they think :D If nothing else it would be good entertainment watching them squirm.
nobody runs amsoil or royal purple?
I run scheffers in all my truck and equipment best oil we have ever ran.
HMM I used to have an old freightliner with a 60 series Dogtroit it smoked real bad out the road draft tube took it to Stewart& stevenson they did the blow by checks said it was all with in spec told me to change the brand of oil I was useing. At that time we used dello switched to rotella and it quit . I have used rotella in my cat. in my KW since the inframe at 800k and it has allways done well when I sent in the oil samples to cat. Like the one guy said change frequency is of utmost importance they are all good oils. I change the oil in my big rig at 10k my Powerstroke gets a "tune up" at 3500.
I ran Royal Purple for 30k, UOA's were not as good when compared to Rottella, been running Rottella ever since.

Amsoil Dealers typically suck...

Royal Purple is Junk...IMHO of course

I typically Recommend Schaeffer's 7000 15w-40, Schaeffer's 9000 5w-40, Rotella SYNTHETIC 5w-40, and Delo 400 15w-40. All of these oils will produce very good to excellent UOA results.

Hammer
For regular oil I use Mobil delvac. If I used synthetic I would buy shcaffers oil.
Wierd but I have been running Delo and just tried Rotella and my engine stopped romping at startup and idles a bit smoother. I have been planning to keep running Rotella. Oil is a tough subject.
Regular Rotella 15w40 sucks in cold weather in both of my trucks. The synthetic stuff takes my no-start without plug in temp down 30+ degrees.

Might as well just pour gear lube in below 0F if I don't use the synthetic.
I just switched from Rotella to Mobil delvac to see if it makes a difference. I have heard that Mobil delvac was a little better oil than rotella, but it seems like the schaffer is the good stuff.

Do you think Jiffy Lube is going to let you know if they find a piston cooling jet when they take out the drain plug? Thats one of the reasons I quite using them, I couldn't live with the uncertainty.

Anyways, I was at wally world the other day and rotella was $8.88/ gallon, DELO was just under 10 bucks a gallon I think. Ford motorcraft filters were $9.97.

Its about time to change my oil so for a couple bucks more ill try the DELO, Ill report back and see if its quited down any, My motor is already fairly quite from running Power Service Diesel Kleen and Wally World 2-stroke oil.
I just switched to Delo last night from using Rotella my truck does not like the Delo, going to switch back to the Rotella, hopefully it will run like it did before I did the oil change.
Dont know if its just my truck but seams very picky on the oil brand
My truck hates delo also.It will romp like no tomorrow on the stuff.Rotella synthetic for the past 200k miles atleast.
