Kind of sounds like something could be dripping on your exhaust. But I would think it would be somewhat constant. Have you looked for it?

 

Yea it is normal they say it happens more often on low mile trucks after a oil change Ford says its the tight clearances ,My truck does it and I havent had any problems so far.

 

Are you talking about the 'ticking' on the driver's side at the rear of the front wheel well? If so, there are a lot of write-ups about these. Mine does it after a long hard pull but no other time. Ford says it's normal.

 

Yea that seems to be where its coming from. Im at 15000 miles and i noticed it today sitting in the drivethru

When was your last service? I switched over to 5-40 synth and it has gone away.

 

I change every 5000 i used 5 40 but it got pricey so i started with rotella

 

Yep, to me it sounds like a lifter tick on a gas engine. I have taken mine to the dealership to have it written up just in case. They could here the tick, but pointed out the TSB for that. After a lot of research on this and other forums, both GM and Ford are having the same problem. It also looks like their TSBs were written by the same person. Nearly word for word except changing the manufacturers name.

 

mine did it after the first oil change, went away after about 1,000 miles

 

after i got my exhaust leak fixed i noticed i got the same thing, its a pretty faint tick. Hope it goes away.
