I don't have any experience with the P3, but I've got the Tekonsha Prodigy, and it was worth every penny.

When pulling a smaller trailer or my big horsetrialer empty, you can push the button for the first setting. Meaning less brake pressure to the trailer. then when the trailer is loaded you push the button again and it addes a little more pressure to them.

So there is no re-adjusting or hassle. Set the controller once for the heaviest load you'll pull, then forget it.

Yes it is. It also has a reverse button for those surge brake trailers. That way you can reverse without getting out of the cab. If your surge brakes have a solenoid to lock out the brakes in reverse, that is.

A buddy of mine just put one in his new Tundra and he likes it. Any specific questions about it? I can pass them along to him....

God bless,

TC

I got one and it works great. Now that I have the gain set up, it dosent need adjustment. Just push a button to set the initial boost depending on loaded or empty.

I bought it because of the diagnostics that are built in. If something goes wrong and you dont have brakes, it will let you know.

I put mine in last week and pulled with it last night! nice setup. Mine was only $10 more than a prodigy! there are a bunch on ebay right now for $120 plus $10 shipping. and a few other for $135 plus shipping with $20 rebates. Worth it IMO.
