So long story short 4 months and 30k got me a truck with a cracked piston and i didn't even get to break it myself!!! So i am now gonna pull the motor cab on myself and either doing pistons, push rods, and stage 1 valve springs, or cummins conversion.

So here are some pics of it so far.

Ya im pretty bummed out with the 6.4l have driven it maybe 100km since november last year. Guess i'll see how bad the damage is. Dont get me wrong it was the funnest truck to drive with a tuner, intake, and exhaust but without a good shop any further is a huge headache.

Id stick with the 6.4 and mod it.... these trucks are awesome when modified. Ive noticed even since I bought my truck in 9/10 they have come a long way since then. Get some bigger turbos on there, looks like you already have plenty of fuel, more than youll ever need, maybe bigger injector tips once bigger turbos are on. Im sure there are head studs on the truck.... Get a 2nd waste gate and nitrousssss haha. Your truck is sick man, i know a lot of people are all for putting cummins in there trucks, but you already have a sweet build going on!!! More then most people could ask for or dream of on one of these

Ya i believe the problem was the shop i had it at never put in a wastegate, they did there own egr delete. They ended up breaking my 60psi boost gauge which they replaced with a 100psi gauge. When i got it back from them my ebp wouldnt read at all and i was easily clearing 60psi of boost, so im guessing it was the ebp from not having a wastegate.

I might be in the market for a new (to me) truck.

Why don't you sell me your truck with the blown engine. You can have the transmission too.

Where are you located ?

Waste gate.... Head studs if it doesn't have it.... Like above, possibly valve springs and push rods for reassurance.

Sounds like madman puts a lot of faith in a wastegate. Do the valve springs, it'll save you in the long run

I would definitely have a waste gate with that set up... With mildly lager turbos and that much fuel... But I would also have valve springs and rods just like you're saying, some people have close to the same or more power and get away with out valve springs but why not put them in just for the reassurance, you already have that much money tied up in the truck.

Ya i will be doing the elite stage 1 springs, rods, and a waste gate for sure if i stick with the 6.4. Starting to disassemble the oil lines and fuel cooler, hopefully have the turbos off tonight. I have the arp headstuds just forgot to add them on the list.

So i talked to Aaron at rudy's and got the parts list started. Just got a few things left to take off and hopefully be able to pull the engine on the weekend.

Anyone around the calgary area stay away from Diesel Performance "Specialists" . (I believe they use that term loosely LOL) Has been nothing but a nightmare dealing with them. Have found quite a few mistakes on my truck, the engine coolant fill line was completely loose and the bolt not even finger tight, along with many other loose bolts. My EBP sensor was never tapped back in after the egr delete and they never bothered to add a wastegate. They also decided to weld my flo pro downpipe together so i had to grind the welds off to get it out. (Which was not an easy task cab on) There final bill was 8000$ more then they had quoted and the truck ran worse then when i brought it to them. I had also got new rims from them which they had another place balance but somehow in there test drives never noticed the crazy death wobble from the unbalanced tires!

They claim they spent over 200 hours working on the truck LOL, never returned my calls i always had to call back and they would say "oh we where just about to call you" It took 4 months to finally get my truck back with the cracked piston and of course its my fault. :pointlaugh:

Well thats my rant now i will do all the work myself, at least if i screw it up it won't cost me 120$/hr. On a good note dealing with Aaron was awesome never had better customer service.

Dirt diesel doesn't build trucks anymore. Good luck with the build. Rudys is awesome to deal with. Best of luck.

Wow, I cant believe their are shops that give you the run around and stay in business..... I had a similar tire issue where my father bought 4 new tires and could have gotten them almost 100$ cheaper from the same company himself, owner wouldnt go good for the difference and said that the price of tires prob dropped since then. Well lets just say bad news travels fast and this place lost out more than just a measly 100$....
