stress on pmrs

hey guys.....verified that i indeed have pmrs....and was thinking about this......it seems generally accepted that 400 hp is a limit on pmrs......my truck has dp 80 tow 4 in exhaust 35s and i tow heavy at 22,000 gross combined......my question...is this....if you build a pmr motor to 350.....then tow heavy like i do pushing up hills deep into it.....can you under those circumstances...exceep the stress levels of pmrs and fold a motor...ok ok you can ....but is it likley.....it seems to me that with all the weight you would in effect....be putting as much or more stress on them.....as it would building the motor to 400 hp.....am i makeing sense........................................................q2...also i dynowed 275hp but they couldnt tell me the torque anybody know what 250 hp is in torque...david

I would stick with stock injectors on a PMR engine, do everything you can do other than that, and you'll be safe with good tuning.
even nos?
Stock AD's are 140......

AA's are stock 90cc

I've seen these #'s posted over the net for years and would like to know where they came from. Also what pulse width, ICP and fuel pressure were those #'s flowed at.

I have and inside track on Alliant's flow numbers and when I get to work tomorrow I'll post them up....they are way lower than the #'s I've seen on the net.

Thats a blanket statment... PMR's are fine with injectors, just get good tuning and be smart... MANY PMR motors are out there with sticks at and above 400hp running strong.

YEA, what he said.

You mean clam?
Yes, Clam. Doh!!
My truck just did 511rwhp with a torque peak of 868ft/lbs. Does anyone think that is going to break PM rods? Hell no.
Holy ####!!! With PMR's? In a 7.3? WOW! Impressive!!! Your my new hero...
Charlie, that TQ seems low. What's up with that?

Great numbers by the way..

WAG....... He made that at 3100 rpm. If he made it at 2600 rpm it would be over 1000.
Charlie does not have PMR's, he was making a blanket statement that 8xx tq wasn't going to break PMR's.

The trick is making it produce HP in the higher rpm range.

Compressive load is the danger with PMR's, target max HP output at higher rpms, and compressive load is reduced.

can one make 400hp on stock sticks? I'm asking cuz I don't know?
Not without lots of drugs... Nos, Propane, Water/meth... you might get real close...
The 511 was actually at 3200rpm for peak.

And as far as 400hp on stock AD's......just why exactly not? Have any of y'all ever seen a 6oh on the dyno? Ever noticed how much fuel those injectors don't inject?

The main difference between that engine and ours as far as making 420ish rwhp on stock injectors all fuel is the rpm for peak power. Go look at the rpm power peak of a hot 6oh.

Now take the torque value that most 7.3 engines make on AD's and apply it to that rpm. What power do you get? Not 320, that's for sure.

Now before someone starts wailing about 4v heads and injection pressure, and this and that, remember that I just pushed my power peak up 400+rpm this past Monday by doing NOTHING but manipulating boost pressure/efficiency and where that occured. Just imagine what will happen when my injectors aren't progressively turning off starting at 2600 or so rpm.

I think m1 did right under 400hp with stock sticks and big oil 2 years ago. i guess that would beat your 363 csi?
Without drugs, no.

Not necessarily true. I think David can apply the same trick he did to the mini-me's to stockers. You'd have to ask him though.

Then they aren't stock, right  :gun:

Sure does... But he did not have stock sticks...
