Could my stock wastegate be blowing open, even though I have it unhooked.

Reason I ask is most boost I can muster at this altitude is 26-27lbs if I'm lucky. Seems like it should be more with my fuel.

Thinking about wiring it shut before I go to the track tomorrow. Guess I should check for boost leaks too. :lame:

yes it could... Try to shove a washer between the WG body and the compressor housing, see if that changes anything...

Yes it can. Did you ever tighten up the rod???? Are you still running a stock turbo? Are you clearing up your smoke with that boost?

Becareful with it wired shut. I had mine set for 35-40 lbs. I dont think the waste gate ever opened but my head gasket did:doh:

Stock turbo with 1.0 housing. Been surging and barking for 40K and still TIGHT! Let's push it a little harder

Never tightened up the rod. I had to rig it when I put on the banks housing, so it's probably looser than stock. :doh:

I would make 33-36#'s in Colorado Springs... Must be a sticky poppet valve on the 9th injector...

bah, wire that fawker shut. I did that with my stock turbo and could hit about 34lbs in dp120... I'll just leave out the part on how the turbo surge sound over-powered everything else... errr wait a minute ointlaugh:

well, first of all, how much whistle does it have? how is the spool up? those two things directly affect it.
if you want more spool up, cover the air intake with a towel, that way you get more black smoke which = more fuel.

NO!!! but if you un-hook the redline from the wastegate and plumb it over to the vacuum pump and then put the ac on max... you gain like 10lbs of boost
