I am looking a getting a new cluch now that I put my Dp tuner in. I found that southbend makes a clutch 4 paddle 400hp and 900 ft lbs that goes on the stock flywheel. Would this be good for my towing setup. I read some where that it rattle under 1700 rpm. What is that about? Or should I just get the 350hp or 400hp kit with the flywheel?

Thanks

All the single discs have full lining on them, not paddles that I'm aware of. And I think the DDs have either 6 or 12 buttons(paddles) on them, so not sure which one your talking about for the 4 paddle.

Southbend makes the best clutches around. talk with Peter there and he will set you up with what you need for your application. I love mine. 5 years and still ticking.

^^^^^^What he said!

My stocker started slipping when towing after I started adding some mods. It wasn't particularly worn...but it wouldn't hold in OD. I've been running a Southbend Double Disc now for about 2 years. LOVE IT! Absolutely no slipage.

Give Peter a call, and check 'em out at www.southbendclutch.com .

Well I called peter at southbend and he suggested an ofe with the fly wheel so I went and order one. The kind I was looking at from them that reuses the stock flywheel doesnt get a softer peddle and you have to put in helper springs on the clutch to be able to push it in.

When you guys put yours in did you install the new clutch fork?

They do make a paddle clutch. 4 Paddle with various button and material options. It does not use the Luk type pressure plate though, so it will not have that super soft pedal effort that you see with the Con FE for instance.

I feel that although people like to give me chit for my clutch (Johhnny...) it's a tough ass little SOB for a single. It's been getting over 1000ft/lbs of torque fed to it for nearly a year now and is still holdin up.

Mine is a 3 paddle with one decent sized ceramic button per paddle, per side.

Anytime you start trying to hold 1100 or so ft/lbs of torque on a single disc clutch while still using stock plate load (thanks plastic POS hydraulics) you're really pushing the single just as far as is possible.

In a month or so I hope to swap in a fluid coupler in it's place. :D

Can't go wrong with the guys at Southbend though.

As I said, it's the Luk style pressure plate and flywheel setup that do that. You don't want it "firm" unless you want to replace the pos plastic hyraulics every other day.

Does SB make better hydraulics for the ZF? They do for other applications.

Actually, they don't unless it's something brand new. I do remember that it has been on the site for a good while now, but it was actually for the dodge trucks. Now they might have changed something, but as of Indy, there wasn't anything when I was talking to Peter about it.

Hence the fact that I refuse to run any more plate load with such POS hydraulics.

It's cool, the PI converter will hold juuuuuust fine.

BTW, if you take the spring out from under the dash it will firm up the pedal some takes awhile to get used to.
keep me posted
