Smoke at takeoff

Hey all -

Ive got the DPF+Cat+EGR delete with the spartan DPF delete tune/stock power on my truck and have started to notice that it will belch a nice cloud of smoke when taking off from a stop.

Is this normal, or a sign of a possible injector issue?

I'm really curious, as I've read bad injectors can cause you to crack pistons if you let them go for too long. :( An old duramax I had was belching a bit of smoke from a stop, and it wound up it had a bad injector, which is why I'm curious.

My stock f250 does that and I just had everything replaced so I'm guessing it's normal. Only when you get on it right?

What color of smoke? If black, then it's result of tuning and deletes and *may* be addressed by fine tuning the tune. Black smoke is from diesel being dumped at injection, but should go away. If it's more continuous, then it might be injector, but the history of 6.4s with injectors is much better than 6.0s.
Mine rolls smoke if I get into it. I kinda like it... It means I'm leaving folks in a cloud and here in MD, that's usually due to idiotic driving. So, I'm exit stage FRONT and they can breathe my vapors.
Is it white smoke like your Duramax or darker smoke?

Just when getting on it from stop. It will belch a nice black cloud, but cleans up quick.

I just went through my motor (new long block, HPFP, etc) fixing all of the issues the previous owner neglected to mention, and don't want to have to go through it all again.

It's black smoke, for sure.

I'm not against smoke with big ole' tunes when I'm at the track, but when I'm on the street, it's can be embarrassing and get unwanted attention from johnny law (especially out here in CA).

It's black smoke. My 07 LBZ would belch a similar black cloud when it had an injector go bad. :( It seems like it only does it for a second or two before the turbos start making boost.
If it's black, I wouldn't be too worried about.

LB7's usually white smoke at idle and low RPM acceleration when the injectors are leaking. LBZ's could be different I guess. My 6.4L smoked white when I had injector issues as well.
