Crossposted so hopefully find an answer!

Need a boot, and either going for 99-07 style, or 08 plus. Supposedly 08 is much quieter?

What I need to know is width and length of either vintage of boot, as well as height and hole size for the shift lever.

Seems dumb simple, but I have a nv5600 in there, so I dont know if either boot is tall enough to seal on the nv's shift lever, or if either has too big of a lever hole to have a prayer of working at all.

Any info appreciated!

I bought the 08 style for my 6.7/ZF6 conversion, but did not use it. The 08 style shifter attaches to the tower then the shift rod travels about 3 inches to the back of the truck and bends upright at a backward angle. This means the tower entry is at the front of the boot and the shifter exits at the back of the boot. I had to cut off the 3 inches of the shifter and re-weld closer to the center to get my position right because I already moved the trans tower back 2.5 inches as part of the conversion. When I did this the entry and exit of the boot is too far off to make it useable IMO. I ended up using the 99-03 style boot because the entry/exit is more centered and it worked great. I looked up the NV tower and think the 99-03 is better suited because it has a center tower/shifter.

Sorry for the ramble. The 08 is a very nice boot setup, but the 00-03 is nearly as nice. It has a nice thick foam base plate. The 08 has a nice flexible rubber/plastic base plate that is the best part of it, but it can only be used in the original 08 configuration.

Good to know. I figured I could deal with the potential offangle of the upper boot, but did not realize Id need a dogleg in there.

Could you measure the 99-03 boot for me? Id have to buy one and fine out it wont cover the hole in the floor!

So, pulled the dodge boot I was using off..... and another issue, the shift tower on the trans. With this, either need to find some large, tall boot, or Ill need to fab a box, sound deaden it, and put a boot on top. Id much rather have a boot, and not a boot and box. Any ideas with this developement?

Did you have an auto or manual? Your tower is pretty tall. I put the manual hump in mine so my tower does not stick out like yours, you may want to re-work the floor?

Yes ford was an auto. Changing hump seems like way to much work to seal it up, but useful anyway.

I did some poking, and inquiring, and looking like a GM shift boot will work well. The 93-99 style looks almost, if not totally identical to the 99-0?, 04 or 05? or whenever GM decided to drop the g56 as an option for the Dmax. However, the older boot seems discontinued from GM. But I found a pic on ebay, and vin for 03/Dmax/g56 truck, last 8 on vin: 3E253585. Then looked for part numbers, and found the following:
boot 15711228
retainer ring 15711231
insulator 15038077
The insulator runs over $50 thru gmpartsdirect, and its essentially a foam donut. So Im looking to just build up a cone of sound deadener inside the boot, maybe stuff accoustical foam inside it. The boot and ring run only 27.75 together.

Wish I could edit previous post...
27.75 is boot and retainer cost, including shipping. 13.42 part cost. Couple bucks more than my "local" dealer, who is an hour away, and has to order anyway. Will update when it comes in, and see how everything goes. Betting the boot will be pulled up a bit, probably 2" over what stock looks like in a Dmax.
