The way the full prices are going I think we all need some tips and secrets on how to get better mpgs so far I know
Accelerating keep egts under 500
Keep boost down
Stay under 2000 rpm
Is there anymore? Also I'm running 285s think of dropping to 265s Weill that help and how by much? Run in hot tune or daily driver?
I'm sure this thread will help some fellow members save some on fuel and get some better mpgs out of there rig
I was getting close to 23 but it's dropped to about 18 got 314,000 on the clock

i went fron 33" to 265's and my mpg's dropped because of my gearing. as far as tips for better mpg's here is some obvious stuff that i see alot of people not pay attention to, keep your tires inflated to the correct psi, keep the oil as clean as possible, same for the fuel filter. make sure brakes are not dragging. i had worn hubs on the front and when i changed them out i saw a 0.5mpg increase. maintenance is the key to getting the best mpg's. one of my fireman told me the other day that he has not changed the oil in his land rover since he bought it. and he has put 15k on it since he bought it!

First of all you gotta adjust the nut behind the wheel. That would be you.

Read this.

Beating the EPA - The Whys and How to Hypermile - CleanMPG Forums

Yeah, its written for hybrid drivers but it has all the basics of how to drive to get better MPG. Filter off the parts you can't use and implement what you can. Forget his politics. The dude routinely gets 47 MPG from a dead-stock Ranger and over 100 MPG from a Honda Insight. He's got the goods.

Keeping EGT under 600 is doable but requires you to pay attention.

Boost is irrelevant. Under 600 degrees you might get 1-3 psi.

Keep RPM as low as possible.

Don't worry about intake/exhaust. It has no effect on MPG.

Forget tunes. They make no difference.

The OEM-sized rubber is the best.

Check your brakes for dragging. A little rust makes them swell at the edges and brake drag hurts MPG.

Check your EBPV. Mine stuck open from September to May regardless of how warm I got the truck. Its like running with an exhaust brake working 'cause that's exactly what it is. I finally got it closed in summer and electrically disconnected it.

Clean up your aerodynamics. If you can live with a tonneau, it is good for 1.5 MPG. Hard or soft. Both work.

Reboot you ECM. Disconnect the batteries for a couple minutes and reconnect. Sometime the ECM get corrupted and needs to be refreshed.

Works for me.

I'll have to try that any way I can get a pic where it was located if that not to much to ask what would I do for the summer?

Just unplug it (there is a little wire clip that flips backwards & then you just pull it out) & leave the wire somewhere in the valley out of the way. I have run with the EBPV unplugged on many trucks up here & never had an issue on warm ups in the single digits or colder.

It should, picture every time that valve closes it's acting like an exhaust brake. The only way to open it up is to stop on the throttle to push it open then it will end up closing a few mins later.
