I am about to replace the bearing on my early '99 (built 4/98). The diff. in price is anywhere from $100 to almost $250 ea. What is th exact diff. in parts and can I get away with the newer model parts?

i just replaced mine a few months ago....early 99 have a different set than the later 99. I fits a different size rotor, you can up grade if you want, but have to buy the bigger rotors. Now Im not sure where you are getting those prices, but I got the cost price from ford being my uncle worked there and it still cost me 365 for the early 99 bearing assembly. You have to change the ENTIRE assembly and its a PITA....

what are you trying to fix??? because if youre replacing the bearing to fix the needle bearing you could just replace that...? but like they said, if you want the newer bearing go to ebay you can get a set of timken bearing fairly cheap. just buy for a 2000 SD as long as you replace the rotors, and the hub assy at the same time youll be ok.
