I mounted mine on a piece of wood, the same size as the cubby hole in the dash on lower left of radio. Worked out great, and can remove at any time without holes in dash. Just make sure board fits tight.
i mounted mine to the front of the ash tray, used the window mount adapted a little and screwed it to the face of the ash tray. if i reach behind i can still open the ash tray, it looks good and is out of the way.
my dad has the livewire on his 6.4 and he has it mounted below the rearview mirror almost touching the dash with the wire running across the top of the dash. he leaves it on all the time and never a problem with the batteries draining
