Use whatever fits your bill. They are both very good oil. As far as your 4r100 goes you should absolutely use Shaeffer's All Trans Supreme.

I have been running the 5w40 for 2 years in the f350 no problems at all
Last analysis said 10,200 miles for oil changes also run the all-trans in the trans put in in at 77,000 when i bought the trunk along with using there differential fluid also.
I run the 15w40 in the Wifes f250 it has 192000 on the last analysis it said to run 6200 mile oil changes

This is to serve as a warning as to what happens when coolant is not maintained. This failure occurred on a wet liner engine, so it's not a perfect example of what could happen in a powerstroke, however because the liners are removed for repair, the pictures are better.
