I just did a complete flush and refill on the neighbors 2001 7.3 with the green coolant (tried to get him to get cat elc but he wouldnt pay that much) and how many ounces of sca additive do I add to get it at 2.0? Theres sca additive in it now at all and read and searched for 3 hrs and cant find how many ounces to add for an initial fill like this.

Do you have the test strips ?

new coolant is set properly. As coolant deteriorates you will have to add the additive to the coolant. Cooling system additive is designed to replace additives depleted between coolant change-outs. Over time nitrate levels deteriorate as indicated by test strips you will need to add cooling system additive accordingly their is no set amount 16oz 15k type of thing it is dictated by cooling system use high heat ect all play a role in it. a bus chassis may need additive almost every oil change grandpa put put would go 50 k

You will need to add three 16 oz bottles.

Standard green coolant does not have any additive in it and if you test it it will be out of range for everything except for freeze protection.

As 444-4D said start with 3 16 oz bottles and then check it with some test strips a month later after everything has had a chance to mix together. Last year when I did mine I added 4 16 oz bottles and was just above a 2 when I tested it.

I have only used the Ford additive FW-16 or whatever it is called this week.

I'd get 4 just in case, that along with if you don't use it this year you'll be ready for next year to add a bottle. You might also see if they have any test strips at the dealer. I doubt it but since you are there.

Ya its always good to have extra laying around. I was thinking the same about the test strips but there lucky they have fuel filters in stock here. Ill ask but for sure will be running to napa after that for the strips lol.

I don't know if NAPA has changed but the last time I went there to pick up some coolant test strips they wanted to sell me 50 of them and they are time sensitive. I usually get mine at Diesel Manor where you can buy a 4 pack, or if I am near a International dealer

Good thing to know Ill just shoot up the international dealer today as its only 30 min away and get some there atleast then I know they have them. I surely dont need 50 of them.

I didnt get the ford stuff as they were out ofcoarse so I was thinking the fleetguard DCA-4 instead and just get a gallon and the test strips then ill have some left over for a while? Is this stuff the same as the ford?

You ever use the E-ZOIL 5000 that dieselmanor has? It looks to be better then the others but ya never know .
