As usual, nothing wants to go easy. Got the shim kit here this morning. Went to remove the cps and the friggin' bolt rounded off on the corners. This was with a 6 point 10mm socket and an air ratchet. The air ratchet doesn't put out all that much but apparently it was enough in this case.

Are there any tools I can go track down or anything that will help me get this ####ing thing out since vice grips won't fit there?

Thanx for any help!

Take a nut that will fit over the bolt and weld it on , then take a hammer hit the end a couple times remove the bolt.

I don't have sears brand but the Snap On ones. They have been out for a while. They have worked great for me and saved my ass many times!!!

This is the cam position sensor bolt. It's threaded into the block.

Alright, I guess I'm gonna run to Sears and see if they have some, although I'm sure it's unlikely. They don't have friggin' anything around here. Probably have to order it and wait another few days.:(

Ive got a set of craftsman spiral sockets similar to what you linked to only theyre 3/8" drive instead of having a hex head for use with a wrench like what you linked too. They work awesome Ive used them on all kinds of nasty rounded off exhaust manifold bolts.

If none of that works I'd still weld the nut to it, You may end up loosing the CPS , but you 'll get the bolt out. It won't hurt the block, I doo this on exhaust manifolds when the bolts brake off. Getting up to it too weld is more off a problem than anything.

I see you got it out. If you ever in a tight bind take the next smallest 12 point socket, can either be metric or standard, hammer it on the bad bolt and usually it will be enough to grab on.

When I get in that kind of jam, I JB Weld a POS wrench or socket to the bolt. I let it sit overnite and hit it the next day. Then all you need is a new bolt that you have to buy anyways.

PSST Danny the cam sensor does not go in the block unless you switched and are running a 6 leaker (I think they go in thru the side of the block or is that a crank sensor?) it goes in the front cover. :poke:
