Sometimes about once or twice a week my truck will throw a cel. It runs fine though power is still the same. It goes off after about 30 seconds and only throws it on some start ups. Also it will be idling then it acts like it skips a beat (almost a lope) then blows a puff of black smoke and starts idling normally, this also happens about once a week. I really dont know what causing it

Hooked it up and it showed no codes. BUT my cel wasnt on, it only comes on for about 30 secs so finding the code is going to be hard. Does anyone have an idea on what it may be

I would check the UVC harnesses and or engine harness for rub-out or a short and or burning...

What type of scanner are you using, i hooked mine up to 3 different ones before it would actually read it. Btw, if it has through a code it will be stored in the trucks computer. I replaced my eot and cps which cost me under 30 bucks to do both. So you may want to go that route
