I have seen so many threads on a very frequently stated problem. Rough ldiling. So I figured to make a wright up to help people and stop the repetitive posting on the same issue. maybe an Admin can make it a sticky.

If you're having rough idle there are three things that you should replace first. Start with the CPS (Camshaft Positioning Sensor). It is located at the front of the engine between pulleys on the left side. Kind of a bitc* to get to. I believe it is a 10mm bolt if I remember right. Unplug it, remove it, bolt the new one in plug it back in. In my opinion you should get one from Ford or International. The ones you get from auto parts stores are not as good as one from a Ford or International dealership. $28

If this doesn't fix it try the ICP. (injector control pressure) it is located just to the right of the fuel bowl. It has a purple O-ring on it. Pull it out and see if there might be something stuck inside it. If there's nothing stuck in it (chances are there won't be, unless maybe you've done a resistor mod, which is not recommended) replace it. You can get them from Riff Raff diesel I believe, not sure on the price but I won't be anything expensive.

I you're still having this problem, next would be the IPR (injector pressure regulator). It is located to the right of the fuel bowl on the HPOP. (not positive on the location, correct me if I am wrong please). There is a wright up somewhere in how to remove it and clean it. I will find it an get back to y'all. Or you can buy a new one from Riff Raff for about $170.

If none of these have fixed the issue, then you've got more serious problems. Way late on oil change, malfunctioned HPOP, bad fuel, bad fuel leak, diesel in your oil. Chances are that if you replace the ones I stated one f them will fix the issue, but there's always the odd problem.

IPR is located on right of fuel bowl on the HPOP. Disconnect plug, Loosen the nut on the back of it, slide off spacer, slide off sensor piece. Then take 1 1/8th chrome deep socket, or a 1 1/8th shower socket ( most like have to take a drill bit to the inside of the socket to fit over the end of the IPR bolt ) loosen the IPR. Replace, put back together and plug back in.
