Have an 04 here that needs an engine. I think the owner has a line on an 06 motor is thier any major diffrences we need to know about??

I really dont think there is much of a difference. In my opinion but I might be wrong. just different turbos only thing I can think of right now.

I think the oil cooler and hpop sys. just went thru this at a local shop ,might PM big blk horse he is well versed and can lead you down the right path.

the icp sensor is on the pass. side valve cover opposed to the hpop cover. only if it is an early 04 motor. that is all I can think of. You might get a check engine light from the egr though

The computers are different. 04's are like a 640K and the 05's and up are like a 860K or something like that. The is a difference though. The 05's and up were a faster processor. I had to put a new PCM in mine and when I was checking around on something, I forget what, I saw the 03 and 04 motors had the same spped processors and the 05's and up were faster. I think it was on the SCT while I was trying to do the datalogging setup. Good luck. Just my .02

what would be diffrent that would care couldnt i just swap the harness and ficm module off the 04 motor to the 05 and not have any problems??

Tadd said something about the 05 front cover being diffrent??

I'm sure it's just a matter of getting the 05 PCM is all. Shouldn't be any biggie at all. I'm not an expert by any means...... I just remember seeing that somewhere. I couldn't imagine it being difficult. Good luck.

oh yeah been on the road for a week now. Wasnt too hatefull at all, Ended up just seperating the motor and trans dropping out the trans and yankin the motor. Used the 04 wiring harnes, FICM and Turbo and up pipes and dropped her back in. Fired right up. The only real diffrence we could find was the front water pump outlet was at a higher angle requiring us to use an 05 lower radiator hose but that was it

Thats good to hear, I'l let Paul know tomorow when I get here in the morning. I never would have thought the turbos were different, This is goo to know. We may end up doing this again some time. He's gonna be selling the 06 he built here in a couple months, bought a CC F 150 that you guessed it needs a cab. So we're gonna turn it into a Harley Edition using a Harley cab we have. Sould turn out nice.

not sure of the diff's in the turbo but i have heard to 05's are less desirable and we had just cleaned the 04 so we used that one!!
