I'm very curious as to how many miles you guys think are too many on a 7.3L.
Would you pay $8,500 for a 00 7.3L Lariat SCSB with 225,000 miles?
Would you pay $11,000 for a 01 7.3L XLT CC SBwith 170,000 miles?
or Would you pay $14,000 for 99.5 7.3L XLT with SC SB 140,000 miles?

As you can see there is a direct corelation with price and miles. WHich on these trucks is the best deal?

I got 221k on my 95 and its still truckin. As long as the truck has been maintained it should be fine. I would do the 01 or 00 depending on if you want a crew or super.

yeah 225 isnt too bad for a 7.3, the 00 is worth about 8k imo
the 01 about 10k and same with the 99.5. i sold my lifted 99.5 with 144k scsb for 10 thats why i say that

I have 240K on mine and have no blow by. It runs better now then it did with 100K when I bought it. My Dad's 95 7.3 had 550K on it when it finally gave up an oil ring...

This isnt a simple question/answer. There are sooo many variables on the value(notice I didnt say the price) that you need to take into account. Let your pocketbook be your guide! A SCSB would be an awesome highway equipment pulling truck. The 99 is waaaaay overpriced. The 01 would get my vote but I dont see the point in a supercab anymore. These are all obviously personal choices.

I would drive them all and see which is in the best condition. My 00 with 240 on it is in better mechanical shape than a buddies with 152. He doesnt use his as hard as I do mine but doesnt take care of it as well either. The 225k mile truck could be the best of the three. In March of 08 I got a DUI and had to sell one of my trucks. At the time the 2000 had 200 on it and the 03 had 80. I kept the 00 just because its a better built truck. You'll have to decide. Dont let mileage be your ultimate guide.

One other thing to consider it the CC SB is the most desirable on the road and will bring more $$ when you sell it.

Dad has had numerous company trucks ever since he started the business and every one of them is a powerstroke. One of them is a 95 with 266k on it and the auto trans was replaced at about 240k with engine oil changes every 5k and no blowby and still truckin good. Buddy just bought an early 99 with 300k on it and no blowby and runs just fine. Only problems with those trucks are glow plugs right now. The owner of the company that he bought the truck from hauls hot tubs from californina to here all year around with the 7.3's.

Owner was telling my buddy that a few years ago they had a 97 7.3 that went to 796k without a rebuild when the engine threw a rod. Not sure how the engine was running before that though. Could have been burning oil and had some blowby and low compression by then im not sure. I Would like to talk to him about it more.
