Has anyone truely experienced increased mileage over the long run using propane? I know the initial cost is high, about $1200 with a tank for an excursion, plus the cost of the propane you use. I just don't know if you really gain enough to atleast beak even. Your thoughs?

unless those big wheels keep on turn'n I don't think you would make up the difference in cost with or without Pane.+ the added wear on the motor VS completely stock.

The only way propane improves cost of operation is if you can get propane for under $2.00 per gallon.

Propane is merely an auxiliary fuel. the heat input remains the same, but you cannot run much injection advance with 'pane. Too much advance plus propane equals engine grenades.

I'll stay with No.2, thank you.

I was looking into Pane but had to much negative feedback to go with it, raises your egt's and just isn't good on the motor.

Thanks for the replies, I was thinking the same way. I agree the money could be better spent ... medium/big oil in the future. Might gain alittle mileage with great tunes but overall engine performance and reliability would be preserved.

MY thoughts exactly, I am gonna take that money I was gonna spend and get a Terminator system, that is supposed to help mpg pretty good.

Neither bigcountry or makinwaves are ever gonna get much in the way of MPG.

May as well go for big HP and not worry about the MPG that is beyond those trucks.

Your right on getting big MPG. My goal is for only around 20 MPG. I averaged 17.36 MPG overall on a 1599.8 mile trip to San Antoino & back (May 07). I did 16.102 MPG on a 2518.1 mile trip to Rochester NY & back ( Nov 06). High 16's in the summer overall is easily to attain. But normally it does takes more power to get better mileage. I'm getting close.

Try using 2 stroke premix at 1 ounce per gallon of fuel if you want better MPG. I have seen a solid 2 MPG increase since I started using it about 9 months ago with the ULSD.

I'm trying 2-stroke oil as we speak. After I run a couple of gallons, I will post my findings.
