I haven't looked into this subject for several years. When I last did, the options were pretty limited... I have an early '99 powerstroke 7.3l tdi, and had once upon a time heard it possible to adjust the glowplug 'on' time using the programmers available a decade ago. Has anyone recently 'reprogrammed' a 'vintage' 7.3 using the more modern vehicle interfaces and software that are now available (i.e., Open source, free, etc..).

I've installed Forscan, and ordered the recommended Obdlink interface. But am just beginning to get up to speed on what's available for adjusting parameters...

Thanks,
Vern

There is nothing cheap about programing a 7.3.

I have also never heard of any type of programming to fool the GPR to shut off earlier than what the PCM tells it to. You would need to put in false values for a couple of sensors to get it to do so.
