Im looking to get a programmer for my dads early 99. he doesn't want to be able to see any wires so a flip chip is out. Is elite the only one who offers tunes with the sct tuner for a 7.3?

Get a chip from DI so he can change the power levels from stock all the way up to FULL power!!

it has an edge juice w/ attitude and its the biggest piece of junk i've ever used. I wanted to put a dp tuner in it but he said no he wants a programmer type.

I had a hypertech III before my dp and it worked ok but my 20T tune on the dp produces more power than stage 3 (highest) on the hypertech. A good tuner is not much more $$$ than a programmer and shift on the fly is good as well as the decell tune for going down the mtns if he tows.

:whs: about Bill re-tuning the Edge,but if i had to get a programmer then SCT(7.3) will be your best option.I have one here with custom tunes from Tadd @ Elite and they are very impressive,but still not as good as a custom tuned chip.

I have an SCT on my early 99. Any tuners that do custom tunes for the SCT for the 6.0's can do them for the 7.3 from what I've seen, and it's just how well they know the 7.3. Matt from Gearhead just sent me some.

Dp can do sct tunes also flash a pcm, they have some e99 tunes.
Didnlt know matt did them, but not sure he likes e99 pcms.

Pretty much anybody you talk to that can do it answers with "you want SCT tunes for a 7.3????? and it's an early 99?????. And they will tell you that the flip chip is way better, which is probably true. I haven't tried DP because they sounded like they really didn't want to do it because the flip chip would be better. Which I understand tuners wanting to steer you in the right direction.

First thing to do with an early 99 is hunt around and find a PMT1 PCM. By itself it runs better, and with a chip it runs even better. Only wire on a chip, is the wire running from the chip to the knob. If you mount it somewhere instead of just laying over the column, you will not see any wires.

if your truck is an early 99 then most likely it is...if not..it should work....

any of these PCM's can be used in the early 99...if you have an auto trans...you need a auto PCM..

Just answering the question as it was asked.
If it was my truck no question needed.

Upgrade the pcm to a pmt series, better tanny shifting, better milage, better idleland my cruise light works...though not all e99s will light some have no bulb.

A chip also ties in stronger to the pcm, will shift on the fly and offer better tunes for a given situation. As far as flash programers go I ren a predtor for a few tests.
It provided more power then stock, shifting was ok but not good and it ran hotter.
A chip in the lowest setting gave me more power then the predator and that is with canned ts tunes. Bean will make the ts tunes feel like the predator.

If you can use self control I have seen upto at least a 3mpg gain with a chip and more power.
