egts will drop greatly and you will see a small power gain and the lag isn't bad.... lots of guys running the powermax on factory trucks.... get some custom tunes and you will love it.... i say ditch the k&n though.... those things are nothing but a dirt sucker

i run a visteon replacement box with a paper element air filter on the factory turbo and never had a single issue, setup is 145$ at your local parts store and as far as tuning we have many reputable tuners for 6.0's n this site, [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] diesel, [email protected]

I have the powermax and just a tune, the lag is noticeable. If you plain to stay stuck I would go stock. Pulling trailers in colorado I have a trubo bark. That what a tuner called it. The higher the elavtion the more it dose it. With a 5-10k trailer at 60-70 it sucks to drive. Stock I can't even pull my trailers at 75. The more fuel I give it the better it is. Egts I didnt see a change. Its a good turbo if you have more fuel.

You already said it, but keep in mind that elevation plays a HUGE roll.

Yes, Eric at IDP and quick tricks. Both fo they same thing. And yes, it's elevation. I'm at 4500' and it will be fine with tow tune, at 6500-11000 it gets worse and worse. I think it's the air is so thin that I don't have fuel to keep it on boost.

twan you got me a lil worried now. i just ordered my powermax thats about all i do with my truck is tow im not looking to put a whole lot of mods to it besides a tuner and a better intake. thats what was driving me nuts was the barking while towing my camper and trying to accelerate with out kickin down a gear. i was told by a couple people that the powermax would be fine for a stock replacement. so should i send it back when it arrives and buy a stocker? 60-70 mph is about all i drive

What twan sees is because of his elevation.higher altitude means less air density through the charger pushing it closer to the surge line.the only way to combat surge at low rpm is to pull fuel or desire less boost, those senarios result in either increased lag or higher egts. What elevations you pull through wil determine how well it will work for you.my suggestion would be to find someone with similar conditions as you with a pm and see how it works for them.the compressor map clearly shows the choke line is moved further right on the powermax making the issue compounded.

I've had nothing but great reviews about the powermax mostly being run with a set of 155 injectors though. Let me know I can get you a great price on a set of 155's to go with it and it'd be a great tow setup.

Mine has very bad lag and i'm at 500ft. If I put it on a tow tune it gets worse . Its almost dangerous to try to pull out at an intersection with a load because its not going anywhre for a few seconds. I've tried innovatives tune and now matts tunes and same results. Matt is writing me a more aggressive vtg stradegy to see if he can tune it out. I can post results when I try it.

Are your tunes written for the Pmax?

I know a guy that tows 16k daily with a Pmax and no issues. But then hes tuned for it.

Mine both are with a 2 month old updated one from Matt.IDP's aggressive tow tune is from April this year. I'm really curious to see what the new one is like with more aggressive vtg stradegy from matt.He is determined to get this truck running good. When its cold and the timing is advanced its a lot better. You don't even want to try a non pmax tune or its really bad.

Forgot to ad that I also have longer cool down times and worse fuel milage. Also if i have the max ac on it gets really bad and smokey on takeoff or low boost.
