97 F-250 with 175k miles.

fuel pump went out, replaced it and fuel filter. drove fine for about 100 miles until fuel filter light came on under acceleration and would start to run rough. idle pressure was about 42lbs. replaced parts in FPR and cleaned the steel filters. idle pressure is 65lbs.

tried another filter today(motorcraft) and no fuel filter light, but water in fuel light came on and sputtered and died out about 1/8th mile from the house and wont start. fuel bowl has fuel in it. drained it and filled it with fuel from a can. water light still on and no start. it has been raining and has been very foggy here, and the truck has had the same fuel in it since about thanksgiving.

any ideas? anything would help. thanks.

When you crank, are you getting smoke out the tail pipe, is the tach moving at all? Did you sample the fuel at all when you drained the filter housing ?
