Cometics. Stock gaskets are going to let go again quick. They aren't worth a crap without lots of miles on them. Once they've got 150 or so thousand miles on em they become "one" with the heads and block.

BTW, keep an eye out for the blown cylinder to have a nice little window below it in the near future.

Heading back home, getting on the turnpike. I got on it and about 40 mph the tires broke loose, I thought holy schite thats some power then the white smoke out the stacks.Found out after i pulled over the antifreeze shot out the resevoir down the side of the truck and on the tires.

No lock up, I think I got it shut down in time, Ill find out more in alittle while.

Well I think Im going to go with stockers and studs but the crazy part is Im going to pull the engine to do it, I think it may be easier and I can clean things up a bit.

Thanks for the replies, need one more opinion....Do I get-r-done and still make Texas.:rockwoot:

Charles, I hear you on that. If I could find a good place that I trust to take care of the surfaces i would go with Cometics, but around here thats hard to come by.There is very, I mean very few people I let touch my vehicles, very anal about that. I do all the work myself only thing that wasnt done by me was the trans.

Danny, I thought you were running cometics ?

Yes i forgot about the heads and block needing to be surfaced for cometics. I would not recommend them in this case.

Bare in mind that some of the people suggesting stock gaskets also like to pop those stock gaskets as well.

It's not as if they aren't letting go at times. For whatever reason Mike mentioned something about a gasket letting go the other day (may have been kidding, who knows) and I know Luke had one or both let go on him.

Two Cents
