What are some really good ones. I want the best, nothing cheap. And whats a really good oil, It gets somewhat cold here, but I do plan on heading to the mountains regularly, as well as up north for a week or so. So I'd need a good weight for this.

Amsoils--> EAO full flow spin on oil filters are some of the best full flow filters u can use. The Fleetguard Stratopores are right up there as well. They cost a bit more, but well worth the extra filtration. {Mainly used with Synthetic oil and extended drains}.

But you also can't go wrong with Motorcraft or Wix filters or Fleetguard, M1 even makes a decent filter. Just change them out between 3k and 5K miles, with your oil.

nooooo. Doesn't hang down near as much as some other stuff, you hit the filter and you're gonna destroy the oil pan, t case, axles, etc.
I'll have to look on my truck, because right now I'm running a stock Motorcraft Powerstroke filter on the old IDI. Seems to set diffrent on the IDI then it does on the Powerstroke. Unless my mind is playing tricks on me. I think the stock IDI filter is too small, that's why I went with the Powerstroke filter. Ma's truck is about due for an oil change any ways so where do you pick one of the bigger ones up at & how much oil do they hold?

Internation should be able to get them, or any truck shop that can get fleet guard. Just give them the LF 3374 fleetguard part number.

As far as how much more oil it holds, not sure, 2qts I believe?
Thanks Greg, wish I had read this sooner. I just did an oil change on my buddy's Superduty today & used the stock Ford Motorcraft. So does the other filter really work that much better? I know the stock one will hold 1.5 quarts.

Donaldson also has an entire lineup of extended drain synthetic media filters, many of them are built with an EAO sticker on the can for Amsoil.

Although the Stratapore filters are very good and some even combine a "bypass" section inside the full-flow filter, they are no where near the range of a real bypass filter.

I run either the fl-1995 or the small oil filter for the 3406 cat. It is even with the bottom of the oil pan when installed. I don't recall the baldwin part #.
Do you know the part number for the Cat oil filter?

Has anyone tried running, or have an opinion on a bypass filter system.
I run an Oilguard set-up. I love only having to change the oil once a year 11K to 12K intervals. I have done 2 oil analysis so far with good results...see pics in signature.
