Alright so Im an obs guy with a "I got talked into" excursion. anyways ive got exhaust, tymar intake and evo 2nd gen coming (wanted dig guages instead of gauges) ok to the point theres a wrecked 97 obs psd at the salvage yard and I was thinking of taking the compressor wheel out of it and putting it in the ex is that a possibility? I dont remember if I read that wicked wheels are shaped like obs wheels or are the same as obs wheels. thanks

cool how to you go about swapping them out? Or really how do you take the compressor wheel off? there doesnt seem to be anywhere to really "grab" it?

You need to take the compressor housing off, then you can grab ahold of the turbine wheel, on the shaft, and twist off the compressor wheel. You can also pad a screwdriver with tape, and stick the shaft in the turbine wheel, but be gentle and dont bend anything. :ford:

sounds kind o scary I think ill do the obs in the junkyard first and then decide if Ill man up and take that 6 year old turbo apart or not. It took me like 6months of staring at my Idm b4 i maned up and did that. Thanks for the replies Greg.

I might be wrong here, but I think the OBS is not what you want. I think its the early 99 SD turbo wheel you need. For the money, just order a wicked wheel , they dont cost much, it will be brand new, and you dont take a chance on breaking two wheels. Just one.:doh:

OBS, and early 99 wheels are the same thing, identical to a "wicked wheel". I agree the wicked wheel is fairly inexpensive and easy to get, but an OBS wheel will work just fine, like I said, it's what's in mine now

Just buy one -you can get them for $80 new. Pretty easy to do for the novice- a 2 on a scale of 1-5
