Non-Sexy MPG Advice

This is about as sexy as John Goodman in a speedo but it definitely works, particularly for heavy pickups.

Keep your tires aired up rock-hard.

This is a must for folks with firebomb tires but it makes a big difference on other brands as well.

I use 235-85 E rated tires and I keep them inflated to 80 psi, front and rear. Any more and the tire starts to "crown" - bulge out in the middle of the tread. That will wear the center of the tire out quickly. Not recommended.

My truck is very sensitive to this. If the tires get down to 70 psi, I lose 1 MPG. At 60 psi, 3 MPG. Ask me how I know that. Don't gundeck the tire inflation.

Well I just got thru freezing my butt off airing up my tires. We'll see how this works out. My nitto terra grapplers were at 42 in the front and 45 in the rear. I ran the front up to 60 and the rear up to 55. I want to see how this does before I go up more.

Course Im already getting great mpg but its bound to help some. The fronts looked bulging on the sidewalls bad before raising them to 60 just now.
terra grapplers are suppose to run close to 80 psi. you might wanna check the tire to be sure though. but my friend has them, and he said 80, so double check
Cat, the left appears to have more air.....

I keep my tires at 75psi

Thanks Redfish, I'll put some more in the other side later.....;)
Really don't want them running around under inflated or lop sided!
:D
Mine are at 75 now, in the front. Didn't check the rears, not to worried while I'm running empty though either with the DRW

Mine are showing 65 psi max cold on the sidewall so I figured 60 was a good starting point to test at for the front and since I use my truck as a daily driver pretty much and dont tow or carry anything I figured the 55 would work good in the rears to cut down on it bouncing my fillings out :D

But I may go all the way to 65 before its over with.
