I've got a 2000 f350 7.3 with 265xxx on it. It has no codes. So what it doin is you can run it at low rpms with no problems but whenever you run down the road for 10 min it starts skipping and looses power. If I pull over and let it idle or kill it and cycle the key it will fire up and run rough for a little wile then go back to having no power and it will die. I beleive its fuel related. Btw forgot to mention the truck was sitting for a few years. I have replace the fuel fileter and drained the old fuel and refilled with new along with diesel kleen. I am going to drop the tank tomorrow and check the sock on the intake tube. I was told this would cause it to do this. any help Is much appreciated

Ok so droped the tank and the screens were clogged to the point that break cleaner wouldn't go through so replaced the and cleaned everything on the pickup put it back togerther and put about 20 miles on it with no problems so I'm goin to drive it tomorrow and see what happens. Hopefully it will be good to go

You shoulda did the hutch mod while you were in there, and even harpooned it too. You still can and it can be done for about $25 if you want a small inline filter, or about $50 of you do it with a larger filter with water seperator

:whs:then you never have to worry about it again plus you get rid of the air problem and your injectors will thank you.

i might look into doing that. one other question the fuel pump on the rail seems to run to long when i turn the key on. it should only run for a few seconds right? mine runs for 30 or so. could this be a pump going bad?

I'll double check mine when I go out shortly, but I'm pretty sure around 20 sec or so is normal

I didnt time it, but id guess my pump just ran about 15 seconds before it shut off
