Also tried a new IDM. Its like something is messing with fuel timing. Seems like the miss is no fuel then the knock is fuel at the wrong time.
go back to Motorcraft UVC gaskets and UVC wiring..and Motorcraft CPS sensor.Had motorcraft valve cover gaskets on it and just put 2 new Dormans on it. Using a gray Napa cam sensor.
yesIt was the aftermarket CPS. Does it change the timing any?
That is what I figured. I see it pretty much daily. It was the aftermarket CPS. Ran them for years with no issues so why now? It had Motorcraft VC gaskets and still had the issue. The Motorcraft CPS is gray. Where are you all getting the black sensor? Does it change the timing any?
The bad part is the cam sensor from Ford was only $22, cheaper than aftermarket.
Ford part # F4TZ-12K073-CWhat is the part # for the International one? Do any of the vendors on here sell them? Does the strength of the magnet make any difference? I've sanded a couple of light grey ones down and the magnet can pick up twice as much weight in metal washers.![]()
Ford wasn't trying to make the truck run good. All they cared about was that the truck would actually run and not die. More of a reliability thing. That was the problem with the original black sensor. Some people here might pooh pooh on this statement but I and several others are in full agreement about it... Stay away from the Ford 'new style' sensor, it's more headache than it's worth. This is one exception to the 'everything Ford' statement and use only the International dark blue. I don't know what Ford changed inside it from the old to new but at times it makes the truck start and run like crap.
Funny you mention that. The trucks runs good with the new ford sensor but cold start ups it has a miss then clears up like you would just flip a switch. Ill get one from International. I put them in DT 466's all the time... Now they come with a shim kit. Some people here might pooh pooh on this statement but I and several others are in full agreement about it...
