I have a 2010 F250 6.4L all stock with 90,000 miles. Has been maintained by the book at the Ford dealer. Took it to the dealer two weeks ago because it was smoking a lot. They said it was in regen and needed to be driven and offered to do a manual regen at next service.

Took it in last week for service including fuel filters they said I had gotten some bad fuel (the filters looked like crap) and that the hpfp was failing and that I need a new hpfp and new injectors and that this was caused by bad fuel and not covered under warranty. Estimated repair price is $8500.

There has never been any indication of water in the fuel.

Any ideas or suggestions? It's under full warranty.

This is probably the most common problem on these trucks and it has nothing yo do with bad fuel. It's the fuel filter system. I would try a different dealer

Thanks. I will take it to another dealer. When I called Ford they said they have to go by whatever the dealer says even though the sensor never showed water in the fuel.
